November 11, 2016
Departure from Westin Bayshore by bus: 08:00
Return to Westin Bayshore by bus: around 14:15

This activity is limited to 55 participants. This tour is COMPLETE.

Participants will start their day at the Triumf facility, located on the campus of the University of British Columbia, before transferring to Iotron in the late morning.

Thousands of people come to visit Canada’s national lab for particle and nuclear physics and accelerator-based science each year. TRIUMF is home to the world’s largest cyclotron particle accelerator, energetic isotope beams, and a host of nuclear health facilities. Guests are taken on top of the cyclotron and through experimental buildings by real students and researchers. Expect to get an inside look at what the lab is really like!

IMRP participants will have the opportunity to visit the Iotron Facility in Port Coquitlam. This visit will include a short presentation of the Electron beam process, our Electron Beam warehouse facility, IMPELA accelerator, conveyor, and shielding. Once the presentation is complete, the participants will be split into groups and toured through the facility by Iotron staff who will be happy to answer your questions.
