ABOUT

“Where Business and Science Connect”

The International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMRP) is recognised as the leading international event for those involved in the application or science of radiation processing.  It is where the business and science of irradiation come together to discuss recent advances, current trends as well as the issues and opportunities that impact the commercial use of ionizing radiation.

IMRP is organised every 2-3 years on a different continent by the International Irradiation Association (iia).  The first IMRP meeting was held in Puerto Rico in 1976 and this 20th IMRP returns to Asia and will be held in Bangkok Thailand.

The last IMRP meeting was held in Strasbourg France in 2019 and was attended by 532 participants from 41 countries.  We have used feedback from this meeting and on current industry needs to develop IMRP20 into a focussed and flexible event.

The IMRP program is always topical and includes regional, technology and application updates from industry leaders.  The meeting format has evolved for IMRP20 to enable participants to only attend a forum on their specific area of interest.

The IMRP exhibition, side events and technical tours are great opportunities to learn and to meet industry colleagues.  The iia understands the importance of networking and has allowed for this at IMRP20 with networking events, receptions and other opportunities to discuss the science and business of irradiation.

About iia

The International Irradiation Association (iia) is the organizer of the International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMRP) and has been the global voice for the radiation processing industry for more than 50 years.

Membership of the Association is diverse and includes corporations, research institutes, universities and governmental bodies around the world. The Association has forged relationships with regional, national or technology specific organizations whose aims are aligned with those of the iia. Our members are leaders in the irradiation community.

A core objective of the Association is to support members in advancing the safe and beneficial use of gamma, electron beam and x-ray technologies that are used to enhance the performance and quality of industrial, healthcare, food and consumer products as well as a broad range of other applications. Communication, Education and Advocacy are key functions performed by the iia on behalf of its members and the wider irradiation community.

The iia endeavors to strengthen the relationship between business and science and recognizes the contribution that science makes to the commercial application of radiation technologies. The iia has established the Phytosanitary Irradiation Platform (PsIP https://psipglobal.org/) and is a leading partner in the Society for Sterility Assurance Professionals (SfSAP https://sfsap.org/).

Welcome Message from the iia

The Board of the International Irradiation Association (iia) invites you to join them at the 20th International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMRP20). This event will be held during the first week of November 2022 in Bangkok, the dynamic and vibrant city that combines history, culture and commerce.

IMRP is ‘Where Business and Science Connect’ because we believe that good things happen when scientists and industrialists meet. A primary objective of IMRP is to provide an environment that facilitates dialogue, encourages collaboration and enables the bonds of friendship to be developed. IMRP is recognized as the showcase of the irradiation sector. The conference provides participants with an opportunity to present their research and new ideas as well as their products and their services. Most of all IMRP is a forum where participants learn, network and debate topical issues.

The science, technology and application of radiation processing continues to develop and to evolve. The structure and content of IMRP reflects these changes making each IMRP a unique reflection of location, current events and topical issues. The format for IMRP20 will focus on an array of important issues that will attract broad participation.

Our thanks go to the IMRP20 Regional Sponsors, STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies and MEVEX Corporation, for their considerable financial support of this event. We also thank the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology for their organizational support, and Kasetsart University in Bangkok and the University of Reims in France for enabling us to offer the pre-conference training course for young scientists who will be part of the next generation of irradiation scientists and professionals.

We look forward to meeting you in Bangkok and to your participation in this important industry conference.
